July 31, 2019 – Caesars Entertainment Corporation (NASDAQ:CZR), one of the world’s most diversified gaming and entertainment companies, today published its annual PEOPLE PLANET PLAY corporate social responsibility (CSR) report, marking a decade of positive impact in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy.
The Report covers progress made by the Company in 2018 and during the first half of 2019 in six key areas:
Leadership in Responsible Business
Caesars was recognized for the fifth consecutive year as one of the “Most Community-Minded Companies” by Civic 50, a Points of Light initiative, and was named to Corporate Responsibility (CR) Magazine's "100 Best Corporate Citizens" list for 2019, a selection based on its standout environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance among companies of the Russell 1000 Index.
Caesars established the gaming industry’s first Responsible Gaming efforts 30 years ago. In 2018, Caesars trained 59,679 team members in Responsible Gaming, investing 68,830 hours in the program. The company also celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Responsible Gaming Ambassador program; today, the company has 1,100 Responsible Gaming Ambassadors in the U.S.
Always a Great Place to Work
In 2018, Caesars’ team members who volunteer in the community, also called HEROs, reported 343,050 hours in community service, which is the equivalent of 171 full-time jobs for the entire year. HEROs have contributed more than 1.5 million volunteer hours in the past five years.
The 2018/2019 program year was significant for the wellbeing of our team members, 91% of whom took active steps to improve their health by participating in Caesars’ award-winning wellness rewards program, and 90% of whom completed an annual physical examination.
In addition to physical wellbeing, Caesars introduced a Mental Health First Aid Program at all nine of its UK properties through an engagement with social enterprise Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England.
Addressing Climate Change
With aggressive science-based targets driving Caesars’ award-winning CodeGreen environmental strategy, the company reported a 23.7% absolute reduction in GHG since 2011, bringing it to 79% of its 2025 goal. A new 2,000-panel solar array at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino and Hotel was commissioned in 2019 and will support further GHG reduction progress. Also, Caesars diverted 49% of total waste from landfill, setting a new company record.
Also in 2018, CDP named Caesars to the Supplier Engagement Leader board, recognizing it among the 3% of participating organizations to be awarded a position on the list for actions to reduce emissions and lower climate-related risk.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Focus
In support of its goal to achieve gender parity in leadership by 2025, Caesars conducted unconscious bias training for leaders at U.S. properties. In addition, after conducting pay parity research, the company reported that 99% of women at its corporate headquarters and 98% of women who work in non-union roles at U.S. properties had no meaningful differences in average pay when compared to men in the same positions.
Also, Caesars earned a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equity Index for the 12th consecutive year and launched its first six-city Economic Equity Tour to provide hands-on guidance and resources designed to improve equity across its communities.
Positively Inspiring Experiences for Guests
Caesars Entertainment introduced new destinations in the U.S. including Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing and Casino, Indiana Grand Racing and Casino, Harrah’s Resort Northern California, and across the globe with Caesars Bluewaters Dubai resort. Additionally, the company broke ground on CAESARS FORUM, a 550,000 square foot conference space in Las Vegas that is pursuing LEED certification (silver).
Caesars also continues to lead the live entertainment industry with world-renowned artists and more than 9,000 live shows each year, including Christina Aguilera, who is donating $1 of every ticket sold to The Shade Tree, Southern Nevada's only 24-hour accessible emergency shelter for women and children in crisis, servicing many who are victims of domestic violence and/or human trafficking.
Caesars has an ongoing focus on compliance, anti-corruption, anti-bribery and anti-money laundering. In 2018, key initiatives included the completion of an enhanced Bank Securities (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering technology platform, and nearly 3,000 hours in topic-related training.
